Georgina's work is
concerned with personal narrative - she coils her memoirs. The process
of coiling and constructing the clay by hand allows her to reflect on
the experiences that have influenced the work The winning pieces in the
exhibition were 'Phony Fruits 1 & 2', both are coil built using white
raku clay and underglazes, then fired to 1070 degrees. After firing, Georgina
continues to complete the works by applying oil paint to build up the
surface, this allows her the freedom to control the color for optimum
results.
In Georgina's own words "In life we have visions of perfection, we walk
away with memories of certain events; we remember particular details and
forget others, X enjoy bringing to life those details we might like to
forget. These allow us to learn to laugh at and with ourselves, and to
move on with the memory of common experience. "

available at The Hive Gallery Wentworth Ave. Kingston A,C.T., and can
be seen at Dickson Gallery (formally ANCA Gallery) Antill Street Dickson
